Leben im Haus - a lively house
Kurz gesagt: Letzte Woche ging wieder was voran. Ich hatte viel Unterstützung. Zunächst hat der Papa die zweite Urlaubswoche mit Brückentag im Mai hier verbracht. Es gab viel mit ihm zu planen und zu besprechen, aber auch zu tun. So bekam er eine eigene To-Do-Liste (im Urlaub soll ja keine Langeweile aufkommen). Auf dieser wurden im Laufe der Woche fast alle Punkte erledigt (bis auf das Holz im Garten mit mir klein sägen und die neuen Ofenrohre montieren - beides hatte keine Priorität). Der erste Punkt war: Abflexen des alten Terrassengeländers.

Am Mittwoch rückte Verstärkung an. Als erstes kamen meine liebe Tante Beate und Cousine Madleen. Sie wollten sich auch nützlich machen. Das ließ ich mir nicht zwei Mal sagen und setzte die Helferinnen am Donnerstag zum Tapetenablösen ein. Auch ohne Erfahrung auf diesem Gebiet, da dieser Arbeitsschritt bei einem Neubau logischerweise entfällt, hat dies hervorragend geklappt und zwei weitere Räume sind nun tapetenlos.
On Wednesday, I got more support. First, my dear aunt Beate and my cousin Madleen arrived. They also wanted to help, and not much later, they found themselves removing wallpapers. This went really well, especially given the fact that they never did this before living in a new house. Now, two more rooms are free from old wallpaper.
Mein Bruder und meine Mama kamen am Mittwoch Abend ebenfalls bei mir an. Das Hauptprojekt der Männer bestand darin, an drei Balkonen die Unterkonstruktion und den WPC-Belag anzubringen. Das Wetter spielte mit und die Herren hatten einen Plan, sodass der Balkone relativ zügig fertig gestellt werden konnten. Ja, drei Balkone sind nun so gut wie fertig, und ich freue mich darauf, diese einzuweihen.
My brother and my mom also arrived on Wednesday evening. The main project of the men consisted of fixing the substructure on three balconies and laying the WPC-boards. The weather has been ideal and the guys had a plan, so they progressed quickly. Yes, three balconies are almost ready now, I am so much looking forward to using them.
Die Unterkonstruktionen aus Aluminium sowie die schweren Bretter mussten zugesägt und hoch auf die Balkone gereicht und dann befestigt werden.
The substuctures of aluminium as well as the heavy boards had to be sawed, brought up to the balconies and fixed.
Mama widmete sich derweil ihrem aktuellen Großprojekt, dem Streichen der Fensterläden, und belegte sämtliche Plätze um das Haus herum. Ich hab mich auch noch ein wenig beteiligt. Während des Streichens gab es dann ein "English conversation training" für sie. Auch dieses Projekt ist nun fertig, alle Läden wurden geschliffen und drei Mal gestrichen.
Mom dedicated herself to her current major project, painting the window shutters, and occupied all free spaces around the house. I helped a little and we did some "English conversation training" while painting. The project is accomplished now, as all shutters have been grinded and painted three times.
Den Tag ausklingen lassen gehört auch dazu...
Ending the day in a relaxing way...
Und als ich am Samstag von einem Termin zurückkam, war die nächste Baustelle von meinem Bruder eröffnet. Es soll noch eine kleine Fläche hinter dem Haus gepflastert werden. Das hieß erst Boden ausgraben (wobei schöne Steinplatten zu Tage traten, welche auch bleiben dürfen) und dann wieder mit Schotter füllen. Nachmittags überkam mich auch noch große Lust, mitzugraben.
When I returned from an appointment on Saturday, the next construction site had been opened by my brotheer: there's another space in the garten to be paved. This meant digging, and then filling the hole with gravel again (beautiful stone slabs were discovered during this process that will remain). I really felt like digging in the garden as well in the afternoon, so I helped.
Und am Sonntag wurde noch der Boden in einem zukünftigen Frühstücksraum fast fertig verlegt.
On Sunday, the new floor in a future breakfast room has been laid almost entirely.
Die ganzen Bilder sprechen für sich - beim Erstellen dieses Beitrags ist mir erst richtig klar geworden, was letzte Woche alles passiert ist. Und die Maler waren ja auch noch da. Wahnsinn... ich bin noch ein wenig erschlagen.
Es war schön, euch alle um mich herum zu haben. Und euch, Beate und Madleen, meine neue Heimat zu zeigen. Jetzt wisst ihr, wie ich lebe. Vielen lieben Dank für euren Besuch und die Unterstützung! Ihr seid immer willkommen hier und vielleicht klappt das ja mit dem Konzert, Madleen. Ein wunderbarer Aspekt meines Projekts ist es, dass ich das Gefühl habe, Teile meiner Verwandtschaft besser bzw. richtig kennen zu lernen. Der gemeinsame Aktionismus verbindet und man unterhält sich einfach anders nach einem "Schaffertag" beim Abendessen als bei einer Kaffeetafel mit 30 Leuten.
Diskussionen nach dem Essen waren diesmal auch inklusive, vor allem am Samstag Abend ;-)
Und dem Rest der Familie (Lukas, Papa, Mama) sei für den tatkräftigen und ausdauernden Einsatz auch gedankt.

It was so nice to have all of you around me. And to show you my new home, Beate and Madleen. Now you know how I live. Thanks a lot for your visit and your support. You are always welcome here and who knows, maybe it will work out with the concert, Madleen. A wonderful aspect of my project is that it seems to me that I get to know better some parts of my family. Working together connects and you just speak differently after a day spent together at the dinner table than on a coffee table with 30 people.
Discussions after dinner have been part as well this time, especially on Saturday evening ;-)
